Bryson DeChambeau Launches Backyard Games With $100,000 Prize

Bryson DeChambeau announced a new golf competition at his home course on Monday, a day after a cryptic "I'm coming home" post on Instagram fueled speculation about his professional career. The announcement, made at 12 p.m. CT, turned out to be about his content-creation ventures rather than his playing future.

What Is Bryson's Backyard Games?

The competition, called Bryson's Backyard Games, returns to the backyard hole at DeChambeau's home that has featured in several of his viral videos. Fellow content creators Grant Horvat, Brad Dalke and the Bryan Bros will play one-hole matches over 10 days, with the winner of each round advancing. The last player standing will then face DeChambeau in a three-hole match for a $100,000 prize.

If DeChambeau wins that final match, the prize money will not stay with him. Instead, it will go to one of his 4.6 million Instagram followers, chosen at random. The challenge begins Tuesday, September 22, when two players are randomly selected to open the bracket.

Why DeChambeau's Backyard Matters

DeChambeau first built an audience around the same stretch of grass in November 2024, when he posted daily videos of his attempts to make a hole-in-one over his house, finally succeeding on the 16th day. Two months later, he offered an amateur golfer $100,000 to replicate the shot.

What About His LIV Golf Future?

DeChambeau's status with LIV Golf beyond this year remains unresolved. He has voiced optimism about a relaunch of the circuit in 2027, telling broadcaster Jerry Foltz after LIV's season finale in Indianapolis, "I think there's something fun coming."
