- He closed with a solo-eighth finish at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship in Virginia.
- Birdies on 16 and 17 pushed him to three under for his final round before a bogey at 18 would still have kept his card alive.
- He made par on 18 from a fairway bunker, holing a 2-foot-8-inch putt.
Davis Lamb earned his PGA Tour card for next season by finishing solo eighth at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship in Virginia earlier this month, closing with back-nine birdies to claim the final spot on the 2026 Korn Ferry Tour points list. Lamb discussed the finish this week on the Subpar podcast.
How did Davis Lamb clinch the final Tour card?
Lamb was one under for his final round when he bogeyed the 13th hole, then birdied the 14th to get back to even. After a par on 15, he checked the leaderboard and saw he was tied for 10th, a spot that wouldn't have been enough to crack the top 20. He birdied 16 and 17, reaching the 18th hole three under for the round and in position to clinch his card with a par.
What happened on the 18th hole?
Lamb thought he had cleared a fairway bunker off the tee, but found his ball in it, with volunteers searching the sand before it turned up. He hacked out with a 7-iron, then hit an approach from 40 yards that skipped once off the damp turf and settled close to the hole. He faced a 2-foot-8-inch putt to save par.
There was a lot of relief once that ball stopped rolling.
The putt dropped, securing a solo eighth-place finish and the last of the Korn Ferry Tour's 20 PGA Tour cards. Lamb said he believed he needed to make par to be safe; a tie for eighth with a bogey would have been enough too, he later learned, but either way he heads into his rookie PGA Tour season with the card in hand.
