Good Good Withdraws as Title Sponsor of PGA Tour Austin Event

Good Good Golf has stepped away as title sponsor of a new PGA Tour event set for Nov. 12-15 at Omni Barton Creek Resort in Austin, Texas, both the company and the Tour confirmed Thursday.

Why did Good Good pull out as sponsor?

The move follows more than a week of fallout from a Good Good-Callaway commercial that showed Good Good's Garrett Clark shoving fellow member Alexis Miestowski to the ground. Callaway has since ended its brand partnership with Good Good, and retailers including Dick's Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy pulled Good Good merchandise from their stores.

Good Good said in a statement that it was stepping away after discussions with the Tour, citing a need to focus on its team and culture as it works through the fallout.

What happens to the tournament now?

The Tour confirmed the event will still be played as scheduled at Omni Barton Creek, with sponsorship plans to be announced at a later date. The tournament had been branded the Good Good Championship since it was added to the fall schedule.

PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp addressed the controversy two days earlier at his Tour Championship press conference, saying the commercial was "concerning" and "not aligned with PGA Tour values." "We were disappointed with what we saw," Rolapp said.

A tournament built around a YouTube golf brand's name now needs a new one, four months out.
