PGA Tour CEO Rules Out Fast Track Back for LIV Golf Players

PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp addressed questions about LIV Golf players returning to the Tour before reporters could ask them, telling a virtual media conference call Tuesday that no new returning-member program is planned even as LIV Golf works through bankruptcy.

Rolapp said the Tour's approach rests on three principles: meritocracy, membership rules and accountability. "We are not currently contemplating a returning-member program like the one you saw in January," he said, referring to the arrangement that allowed Brooks Koepka back onto the Tour this year. He added that Tuesday's board-approved changes to the competitive structure were built around the Tour's broader future, not around LIV Golf specifically.

Could LIV players still find a path back?

Rolapp confirmed the Tour still expects an avenue for DP World Tour's top finishers to earn PGA Tour Championship Series cards once the new two-tier model begins in 2028, even though the exact access has not been finalized. That route would let a LIV player earn a return through strong DP World Tour results, following the path Patrick Reed has used.
