Ricky Castillo turned a rough opening round into one of the best comebacks of the Biltmore Championship Asheville, shooting a 9-under 62 in Round 2 to move into a share of third place.

How did Castillo's Round 2 turnaround happen?

Castillo reached 5-under through three holes in the first round after a birdie on the third hole, but wayward drives led to a bogey-bogey-double bogey stretch on the fourth, fifth and sixth holes. He finished the round at 2-under 69.

He came back with a 9-under 62 in Round 2, hitting 14 of 18 fairways and scrambling 7-for-7 to protect the round. He eagled twice on the front nine, including at the sixth hole, where he had made a double bogey a day earlier — a four-shot swing on one hole that captured the difference between his two rounds.

A four-shot swing on one hole captured the difference between Castillo's two rounds.

"I just really did everything really well," Castillo said.

Where does Castillo stand at Biltmore?

His 36-hole total of 11-under 131 leaves him tied with first-round co-leader Max Greyserman, three shots behind Shipley and two behind Kohles. The Cliffs at Walnut Cove, a new tournament venue with five par-3 holes and four par-5 holes, is unfamiliar to much of the field.
