How have players reacted?

Several US players were asked about the president's planned visit in the days leading up to the matches. Patrick Cantlay said he expected the visit to lift the atmosphere at a home Presidents Cup. "I think it would be great to have the President out and hopefully gets the crowd going," Cantlay said. "I'm expecting the crowd to be loud and behind us this week and that's what makes playing home team events so fun."

Other US players, including Xander Schauffele and Sam Burns, pointed to Trump's history of attending golf events, with Schauffele noting the president made a similar appearance at Bethpage during last year's Ryder Cup.
