Trump Attends Irish Open's Debut at His Own Doonbeg Course

President Donald Trump attended Saturday's third round of the Amgen Irish Open at Trump International Doonbeg, marking the course's first Irish Open and its debut as a DP World Tour host venue.

Trump flew overnight from Maryland to Dublin, where he attended a function at the U.S. ambassador's residence before traveling to the west coast of Ireland. Air Force One was seen flying over the course before he took a short helicopter trip to the property aboard Marine One.

Trump arrived as Shane Lowry, who shot a course-record 62 on Friday, led the field entering the third round.

The Greg Norman-designed layout is ranked 48th in Golf Monthly's UK and Ireland Top 100 Courses list. Trump bought the property in 2014 for a reported €15 million, when it was known as Doonbeg Lodge and Golf Club, and renamed it Trump International Golf Links & Hotel, Doonbeg. It was confirmed as this year's Irish Open venue a year ago, three weeks after Trump's Aberdeenshire course, Trump International Golf Links, hosted the Nexo Championship.
