Trump to Serve as Honorary Chairman of 2026 Presidents Cup

Donald Trump has accepted an invitation to serve as honorary chairman of the 2026 Presidents Cup, the PGA Tour announced Saturday. It is the second time he has held the role, after first serving as honorary chairman in 2017 at Liberty National Golf Club in New Jersey.

The 16th Presidents Cup is set for Sept. 22-27 at Medinah Country Club outside Chicago. The United States leads the all-time series 13-1-1, and the International team has never won the event on U.S. soil.

PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp said the Presidents Cup has a history of involving world leaders and that Trump's participation would help raise the event's profile. "This will be a particularly exciting event," Trump said in the same news release.

The honorary chairman role is ceremonial, tied to the event's tradition of inviting heads of state and other dignitaries to take part in trophy presentations and other on-site appearances during tournament week.
