Tyrrell Hatton Denies Signaling LIV Golf Exit, Cites Contract

Tyrrell Hatton says speculation about his future beyond LIV Golf is unfounded, telling reporters Wednesday at the Husqvarna British Masters that he has "multiple years" remaining on his contract with the team-based league.

Why Did Hatton's Walk-On Song Raise Questions?

Hatton arrived on the first tee at LIV Golf Indianapolis' season finale to Queen's "I Want to Break Free," a choice widely read as a hint about his future given uncertainty over the league following the Public Investment Fund's exit. Hatton called it a coincidence. "I still have multiple years on my contract left with LIV, and I've got plenty of tournaments this year," he said. "So there's nothing, really, to focus on other than the golf."

What Is Hatton's Schedule the Rest of This Year?

Hatton also left the stage quickly after Legion XIII's team win in Indianapolis, skipping much of the winner's media obligations. He said the timing was about catching an international flight home, not a sign of frustration with the league. He is playing the British Masters this week before a run of DP World Tour events: the Irish Open, Wentworth, the Alfred Dunhill Links, the Spanish Open, and the season-ending swing through Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Hatton's denial doesn't resolve the question so much as delay it to whenever his LIV contract runs out.

In three seasons with LIV, Hatton has earned close to $43 million in on-course earnings and bonuses, the ninth-highest total in the league's history. His Legion XIII captain, Jon Rahm, is reportedly still owed nine figures from his original LIV contract. Under current PGA Tour rules, a player leaving LIV would face a year-long suspension before returning. Hatton said he expects LIV to continue into 2027, calling the league's search for new funding "full steam ahead."
