Uneekor has cut the price of its Eye Mini portable launch monitor by about 33%, from $4,500 to $2,999.
The Eye Mini uses two high-speed cameras rather than radar to track the ball and clubhead through the first few feet of flight, then displays the numbers instantly on a backlit E-Ink screen. Pairing the unit with Uneekor's app on a PC or iPad unlocks a fuller data set, including attack angle, club path, spin and launch direction, along with video of the clubface at impact.
Uneekor built its reputation on overhead simulator systems used in commercial and tour settings, and the Eye Mini carries over that high-speed camera approach at a fraction of the cost of a tour-level unit, which can run $15,000 or more. Independent testing has found the Eye Mini's readings track closely with pricier commercial systems, though the device has a larger footprint than some entry-level radar monitors.
The Eye Mini works both indoors and outdoors and is aimed at golfers building out a home simulator or wanting more detailed feedback at the range than a basic radar unit provides. At $2,999, it still costs more than most entry-level monitors, but its camera-based tracking and impact video are features typically reserved for pricier systems.
