The final round of the PGA Tour's Butterfield Bermuda Championship was canceled Sunday as winds gusting beyond 40 mph swept across Port Royal Golf Course, pushing the tournament's completion into Monday.

Why was Sunday's round called off?

The PGA Tour Rules Committee made the call at 9 a.m. local time after final-round tee times had already been moved earlier in the day in an attempt to beat the weather. Conditions worsened instead of easing, and no window opened to get the 72 remaining players around the course.

Tour officials said an update on Monday's plan would come no later than 5 p.m. local time, with organizers still hopeful of completing all four rounds of the FedExCup Fall event.

Who is leading the Bermuda Championship?

Austin Smotherman and Seamus Power shared the lead at 16 under entering the final round and will be paired in the last group whenever play resumes.
