Charlie Woods, the 17-year-old son of 15-time major champion Tiger Woods, won medalist honors at the Florida Boys Golf State Championship district tournament on Tuesday, firing a 2-under 69 at Champions Club at Summerfield in Stuart, Florida.
How did Charlie Woods win the individual title?
Woods needed a 40-foot putt on the final hole to edge teammate Brooks Colton, who shot 70, for medalist honors by one shot. The round came on a course Benjamin School head coach Toby Harbeck said played long, windy and wet.
Harbeck praised the top of his lineup after the round. "That's what you want out of your No. 1 and No. 2," he said.
| Player/Team | Score | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Charlie Woods | 69 (-2) | Individual medalist |
| Brooks Colton | 70 (-1) | Individual runner-up |
| Benjamin School | +2 (team) | Team champion, 15 shots over Oxbridge Academy |
What's next for Benjamin School?
Benjamin School held off pressure from both Oxbridge Academy and King's Academy with a back-nine charge to retain the district title it won a year ago. The team now advances to the Regional round next week, aiming to reach the state championship in mid-November. Benjamin School won the Florida Class 1A state title in 2025, its second in three years.
Beyond the high school season, attention is also turning to the PNC Championship, a father-son event Tiger and Charlie Woods have played together in the past. A spot has reportedly been held for the pair at the December 14-17 tournament.
