Dan Brown has given up his PGA Tour card with immediate effect, citing a lingering wrist injury, and will finish the 2026 season on the DP World Tour instead.

Why is Dan Brown leaving the PGA Tour?

Brown, 31, earned one of 10 dual-membership spots after his 2025 DP World Tour season, headlined by a win at the BMW International Open and five other top-10 finishes, two of them runner-up results. He moved into the eligibility spot after countryman Laurie Canter left for LIV Golf before the new season began.

His rookie PGA Tour campaign did not go to plan. Brown finished inside the top 20 on debut at the Sony Open but missed the cut in five of his next seven starts, adding a T30 and a T40 in the two weeks he did make the cut. He sat well outside the top 100 in the FedExCup standings before the FedExCup Fall portion began.

What role did injury play?

A wrist injury forced Brown to withdraw from both the British Masters and the BMW PGA Championship. He has played only once since a T18 finish at The Open in July, a T16 at the DP World Tour's Nexo Championship in August. He had considered an injection to play this month's Irish Open before deciding against it.

A wrist injury and a difficult rookie season ended Dan Brown's first PGA Tour run before it reached its second year.

Announcing the decision on Instagram, Brown said he was stepping away from the PGA Tour for the rest of 2026. "I don't feel as though I'm in the right place mentally and physically," he wrote.

What happens next for Brown?

Brown remains exempt on the DP World Tour through the end of next season on the strength of his BMW International Open win. His first start since confirming his plans comes this week at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, played across St Andrews, Kingsbarns and Carnoustie.
