Henrik Stenson's Son Karl Verbally Commits to Florida Golf

Karl Stenson, the 16-year-old son of 2016 Open champion Henrik Stenson, has verbally committed to play golf at the University of Florida, according to a Golf Channel report. Karl, also known as Kalle, is a junior at Circle Christian School in Orlando and a member of the 2028 graduating class.

Where does Karl Stenson rank as a junior golfer?

Stenson is currently ranked 2,004th in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, 118th in the Universal Golf Ranking, and 15th among junior golfers in his graduation class. He won a Swedish junior invitational held in Spain last year and finished runner-up at the 54 Junior Tour event hosted by Visit Trelleborg in Sweden earlier this year.

Stenson will join Luke Poulter, son of Ian Poulter, on Florida's roster. The elder Poulter and Henrik Stenson were co-captains of LIV Golf's Majesticks GC before Stenson's relegation from the circuit in 2025. Tiger Woods' son Charlie has committed to a different in-state program, Florida State.

Karl already has a moment of his own in tournament history. At age 11, he partnered with his father in the 2021 PNC Championship, becoming the youngest competitor in the event's history as the pair carded rounds of 62 and 63 to finish tied for eighth at 13 under.

At that tournament's formal dinner, the Stensons were seated with Peter Jacobsen, who asked Karl if the pair had a chance to win. Karl replied, "Not the way he's playing."
