Rory McIlroy and Aldrich Potgieter are tied atop the PGA Tour's driving distance leaderboard in 2026, each averaging 330.3 yards off the tee heading into the VidantaWorld Mexico Open — roughly 24 yards above the Tour average.
What Drivers Do McIlroy And Potgieter Play?
McIlroy moved into the TaylorMade Qi4D driver late last year, pairing it with a Fujikura Ventus TR Black 6 X shaft. Potgieter switched equipment brands entirely in January, leaving Titleist for a PXG Lightning Tour Max driver fitted with the stiffer Fujikura Ventus TR Black 7 X shaft. Both players improved on their 2025 numbers, when McIlroy averaged 325.0 yards and Potgieter 323.0 yards to rank first and second in the category.
Who Else Ranks Among The Tour's Longest Hitters?
Michael Brennan sits third. Regarded as one of the circuit's better ball strikers, Brennan has won twice in a two-month stretch this season playing a Titleist GT3 driver with a Project X HZRDUS Silver TX shaft.
Across the Tour's top 10 longest hitters, Callaway is the most common driver brand with three players, followed by PXG and Titleist with two each, and TaylorMade, Ping and Cobra with one apiece. Fujikura shafts appear in seven of the top 10 bags, while Project X and Mitsubishi each supply one.
