Michael Block has revealed he sold the TaylorMade TP MC 7-iron he used to make one of the most memorable shots in recent major championship history, putting the proceeds toward a classic car.

Block, a California club professional, finished T15 at Oak Hill Country Club in 2023 and capped the week with a hole-in-one at the par-3 15th during the final round, playing alongside Rory McIlroy. Days later, he confirmed he had been offered $50,000 for the club.

What did Block do with the money?

Block said he used the proceeds to help buy a 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback Restomod, which now carries a California license plate reading "SVNIRON" as a nod to the club that helped pay for it.

"It was always a dream of mine to invest in a car," Block said, adding that he wanted something tangible he could see and drive rather than money sitting in a bank account.

The T15 finish at the 2023 PGA Championship earned Block $288,333 in prize money. He remains the head pro at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Mission Viejo, California, and has played in all three PGA Championships since his Oak Hill run, missing the cut each time.
