Mike Sposa won the 2026 U.S. Senior Amateur on Thursday, beating Todd White 3 and 2 in the final at Baltimore Country Club's East Course to claim his first USGA title.
How did the final unfold?
White opened with a birdie to grab an early 1-up lead, but Sposa made par on the second hole and won four of the next five to take control, going up 4 through seven holes. He closed out the match with a par on the par-5 14th. White, the 2015 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball champion alongside current U.S. Walker Cup captain Nathan Smith, finished runner-up.
Who is Mike Sposa?
Sposa is a reinstated amateur who competed on the winning U.S. side at the 1991 Walker Cup. He played 174 PGA Tour events as a professional and holds a win on the developmental circuit now known as the Korn Ferry Tour. In 2002, he made a hole-in-one on the famous par-3 16th at TPC Scottsdale during the Phoenix Open, one of just 12 golfers to do so at that hole.
The win earns Sposa a spot in the 2027 U.S. Senior Open at Oak Tree National in Edmond, Oklahoma. He left Baltimore Thursday for Lahinch, Ireland, to join the U.S. Walker Cup team, which began play Saturday.
