PGA Tour, DP World Tour Plan 2028 Global Series Circuit

The PGA Tour and DP World Tour are working on a new "global series" of events that could launch as early as 2028, according to a report by The Telegraph's James Corrigan. The tournaments would remain exclusively DP World Tour events, filling out the European tour's calendar during the fall and into the new year.

Where would the global series events be held?

Potential hosts named in the report include England, Australia, South Africa, the Far East and Dubai. Existing DP World Tour stops such as Abu Dhabi, France, Spain and Italy could also be folded into what is described as a nine-event sequence.

Why is the PGA Tour involved in a DP World Tour series?

The plan is tied to the PGA Tour's new Championship Series, a top-tier schedule running from February through August that would leave those players ineligible for the tour's longer-running Challenger Series. A stronger fall and winter run through Europe and beyond is intended to give top players who are not taking a five-month break somewhere competitive to play.

The global series remains a proposal rather than a confirmed schedule. Neither tour has named which nine stops would make the final calendar or announced a formal launch date beyond the 2028 target.
