The United States holds seven of the top 10 spots in the ranking, more than any other country. Two players made notable jumps this week after strong showings at East Lake.

How is the world ranking calculated?

Rankings are set weekly by awarding points from eligible tours and tournaments over a rolling two-year period, then dividing each player's total by the number of events entered to produce an average. That average, rather than a raw points total, determines where a golfer lands.

Points hold full value for 13 weeks before being reduced in equal decrements. The Masters, U.S. Open, PGA Championship, the Open Championship and the Olympic Games are among the events that carry ranking points. This update was accurate as of Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
