Srixon Launches ZXi5 and ZXi5+ Irons for Different Players

Srixon has released two new forged irons, the ZXi5 and ZXi5+, aimed at different types of golfers despite the similar name. Both are priced at $1,499.99 with steel shafts or $1,599.99 with graphite, and ship to stores Oct. 16 following a Sept. 8 presale.

What technology do the ZXi5 and ZXi5+ share?

Both irons are built with Srixon's i-FORGED process, in which extra material is added around the high-toe and topline areas before a second forging compresses and reinforces those high-stress zones under heat and pressure. The thin, strong SUP10 face is designed to flex more and generate extra ball speed, while the softer S20C body absorbs vibration for a forged feel. Tungsten in the toe of the long and middle irons offsets the hosel's weight and helps stabilize mishits.

Both models also use a structure Srixon calls MainFrame iQ, a network of grooves, channels and notches milled into the back of the face. Srixon designed the pattern using simulations of where golfers tend to strike each iron, aiming to preserve ball speed across a larger area of the face. Progressive grooves, wider in the long and middle irons and tighter in the scoring clubs, plus laser milling between them, round out both sets.

How do the ZXi5 and ZXi5+ differ?

The ZXi5 keeps a narrower sole and a more compact shape built for better ball-strikers who want extra speed without leaving the players-iron category. The ZXi5+ moves further toward distance and forgiveness, with a longer blade, a wider sole for turf resistance and stronger lofts, while its hollow-body construction keeps a cleaner look than a typical game-improvement iron.

The plus sign in the name marks a shift toward forgiveness, not just a longer iron.

Positioned alongside Srixon's ZXi7, the three irons form a progression: the ZXi7 is the most compact and control-focused, the ZXi5 adds speed and forgiveness, and the ZXi5+ pushes furthest toward distance and stability.
