Truist Championship Named to PGA Tour's 2028 Championship Series

The Truist Championship will join the PGA Tour's new Championship Series when the format debuts in 2028, the Tour and tournament announced Wednesday. It is the first of four additional events Tour CEO Brian Rolapp said Tuesday would be confirmed in the coming weeks.
What is the PGA Tour Championship Series?
First announced in June, the Championship Series will pit the Tour's top performers against each other across roughly 23 to 24 events from February through August. The slate includes the Players Championship, the major championships, the postseason and international team events such as the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup.
The Truist Championship currently ranks among the Tour's existing signature events and is held at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. It is in its 24th year on Tour and its third as a signature event, with next year's edition set for May 13-16.
Truist becomes the first of four newly confirmed Championship Series events, with more to follow in the coming weeks.
“The inclusion of the Truist Championship in the PGA Tour Championship Series marks an exciting new chapter for this respected event,” Truist Chairman and CEO Bill Rogers said in a statement.
The Tour has not yet released a full 2028 schedule detailing which events fill the remaining Championship Series slots.
