Trump Pardons Eric Larson, Harris English's Longtime Caddie

President Donald Trump has issued a full and unconditional pardon to Eric Larson, the longtime caddie for PGA Tour player Harris English, clearing a cocaine-dealing conviction from more than three decades ago. The pardon was signed on Sept. 3, and Trump called Larson personally to deliver the news, according to the New York Post, which first reported the story.

Larson, who is from Appleton, Wisconsin, served 11 years in prison for the conviction. Under immigration rules the United Kingdom changed in 2024, his record had barred him from entering the country, preventing him from caddying for English at the Genesis Scottish Open and the Open Championship in 2024 and 2025. That absence cost Larson a bonus of roughly $126,000 when English finished runner-up at the 2025 Open Championship.

How did the pardon come together?

Larson met Trump during a round of golf last December and explained his situation. He had also filed a formal application with the Justice Department's pardon office, submitting records of his work in prison and letters vouching for his conduct since his release.

Larson told the New York Post the pardon was reviewed on its merits. "I've done all the right things since Day One, since my crime," he said.

English is currently playing for the U.S. team at the Presidents Cup, where Larson is expected to be back on the bag for future international events without the travel restriction.
