Wade Ormsby Reveals Partial Finger Amputation After Home Accident
By Staff Writer
Wade Ormsby has disclosed a "partial amputation" of his left ring finger, the result of an accident at home days after missing the cut at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
The 46-year-old Australian posted a photo of his bandaged hand on Instagram, explaining that the injury happened while he was attaching a trailer to his car.
Ormsby thanked Dr. Nick Smith and the surgical team who operated to rebuild the finger. He said he will miss the Macau Open and Hong Kong Open as a result but intends to return to competitive golf as soon as possible.
Ormsby, the current World No. 445, sits 12th on the Asian Tour Order of Merit after a runner-up finish at the Taiwan Masters, and had been hoping to build on that position at the two events he will now miss.
Ormsby plays primarily on the Asian Tour and has made 15 LIV Golf appearances since the breakaway league launched in 2022.
