Callaway released its Full Toe SP wedges on August 21, a specialty design aimed at golfers who open the clubface around the green. The line pairs an enlarged toe area with full-face grooves and the company's largest Spin Pocket yet, priced at $199.99 with a True Temper Dynamic Gold S200 shaft and Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 grip.

What problem is the Full Toe SP built to solve?

On a standard wedge, opening the face shifts impact toward the toe, an area that often has fewer grooves and sits farther from the center of gravity. Callaway addressed that by extending its Spin Gen 2.0 grooves the full width of the face, giving the Full Toe SP 44% more groove area than a conventionally shaped wedge and 17% tighter groove spacing.

The taller toe also gave engineers room to enlarge the Spin Pocket, a hollowed cavity low in the back of the head that shifts mass upward. At 18% larger than the Opus SP+ and 35% larger than the standard Opus SP, it produces the highest center of gravity of any wedge Callaway has made, intended to lower launch and boost spin with a square face while still allowing a high, soft shot when the face opens.

Callaway designed the J-Grind with added camber and heel relief so the leading edge stays closer to the turf when the face is opened, and so the sole loses less speed on shots struck slightly behind the ball. The JW-Grind, limited to the 62-degree head, is aimed squarely at bunker play. The line skips pitching and gap-wedge lofts entirely, positioning itself as a sand- and lob-wedge option only.
