Charlie Woods opens final high school season at Benjamin

Charlie Woods begins his final high school golf season this week at Benjamin School in Palm Beach County, Florida, where he and fellow senior Andrew Tsar will try to lead the Buccaneers to a second straight Class 1A state title.

What did Charlie Woods do last season?

Woods played at the top of Benjamin's lineup in 2025 and shot a 4-under-par 68 during the second round of the Class 1A state championship, the lowest round recorded that day. The performance helped Benjamin rally to the program's second state title in three years. Woods and Tsar were named The Palm Beach Post's Small School Co-Players of the Year.

What's next for Woods and his teammates?

Woods has committed to play college golf at Florida State. Tsar and teammate Brooks Colton are both headed to Southern Methodist University. Benjamin returns much of last year's championship lineup and will face several of Florida's top programs, including Circle Christian Academy, Lake Highland Prep and American Heritage-Plantation, with tournament trips scheduled to Fort Myers and Orlando before the postseason.

Benjamin coach Toby Harbeck credited the team's returning experience for taking pressure off this year's group. Woods has already helped Benjamin win state titles as a freshman and junior and reach the state final as a sophomore — a fourth trip to the final this fall would give him three FHSAA championships in four years.
