Key takeaways

  • Joaquin Niemann, LIV Golf's all-time wins leader with nine victories, is reported to be leaving the league rather than join "LIV 2.0" in 2027.
  • Teammate Abraham Ancer is also expected to depart, according to Sports Business Journal.
  • Jon Rahm, Adrian Meronk and David Puig have already confirmed they won't be part of LIV 2.0.
  • Richard Bland and Cameron Tringale are so far the only players to publicly commit to staying.
  • Remaining players have until Sunday, Oct. 25, to decide.

Joaquin Niemann, the career wins leader in LIV Golf's four-season history, is reportedly set to leave the league rather than sign on for its planned 2027 relaunch.

What is being reported about Niemann's future?

The X account Handicap 54, run by Matías Miguel Torge, reported Niemann will play elsewhere in 2027, most likely the DP World Tour, though terms aren't final while he and LIV settle how much money the league still owes him. His Torque GC teammate, Abraham Ancer, is also expected to leave, per Sports Business Journal's Josh Carpenter, who reported Ancer's deal expired this season and that he decided earlier this year to play elsewhere. Ancer does not currently hold DP World Tour status; Today's Golfer has reported a mechanism is in the works to guarantee former LIV players a number of starts there next year.

Who else has said they're leaving LIV?

Niemann and Ancer would join Jon Rahm, Adrian Meronk and David Puig, who have already confirmed they won't be part of LIV 2.0, plus Sergio Garcia, whose original contract LIV terminated. Richard Bland and Cameron Tringale remain the only players to have publicly committed to staying with the relaunched league, planned as a 10-event schedule with player ownership stakes backed by up to $300 million from BC Partners.

The decision for most remaining LIV players now comes down to money owed versus a tour card that still leads back to the majors and the Ryder Cup.

Players still weighing their options have until Sunday, Oct. 25, to commit one way or the other.
