Angela Stanford Hired as TCU Women's Golf Assistant Coach

Angela Stanford, who captained the U.S. team at the Solheim Cup, has joined TCU's women's golf program as an assistant coach. The school announced the hire a day after a disappointing finish for the Americans in that competition.

Stanford, a native of nearby Saginaw, Texas, about 15 miles from TCU's Fort Worth campus, played for the Horned Frogs from 1996 to 2000. She was a four-time All-American, the only player in program history to earn that honor in all four seasons, and she still holds the school record for career victories with 10, a mark that has stood since her playing days ended in 2000.

TCU's athletic department did not undersell the hire, describing Stanford on its website as the greatest player in the program's history, returning to the Horned Frogs' colors. Head coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkin called it a monumental moment for the program, saying the addition of a major champion and U.S. Solheim Cup captain to her coaching staff would give TCU's players a level of mentorship rarely available at the college level.

Ravaioli-Larkin said Stanford embodies what it means to be a Horned Frog, and that her passion for the school would help elevate the team.
