Anna Nordqvist Retires From Competitive Golf at Age 39

Anna Nordqvist played the final round of her competitive career on Sunday at the FM Championship in Norton, Massachusetts, closing a 20-year run that included three major titles and nine Solheim Cup appearances for Europe.

Nordqvist opened Sunday's round with a birdie and shot an even-par 72 to finish T38 at TPC Boston, a week after announcing on Wednesday that the tournament would be her last as a professional. Nordqvist turned professional out of Arizona State and won the 2009 Women's PGA Championship in just her fifth start. She was also only the second player, after Georgia Hall, to win the British Girls' Championship, the British Amateur and the Women's British Open.

Twenty years after turning professional, she leaves having never missed a Solheim Cup selection.

Nordqvist became a fixture on Europe's Solheim Cup teams starting the same year she turned pro, compiling a 17-15-3 record across nine appearances and recording the first hole-in-one in Solheim Cup history.
