Callaway Golf CEO Chip Brewer issued a statement Monday night taking responsibility for approving a Good Good video that showed creator Garrett Clark shoving a woman to the ground and threatening her over a driver. Brewer said the approval "should never have happened."
What happened in the Good Good video?
The video was produced as part of a promotional driver collaboration between Callaway and Good Good. It depicted Clark running at a woman who reached for his driver, shoving her down and standing over her while telling her not to touch it, drawing swift backlash before Good Good removed the post.
What did Callaway and Good Good say?
Brewer wrote that the video was produced by Good Good but had been signed off on by Callaway before it was posted, and that the sign-off never should have happened. "Mistakes were made and we are taking the matter very seriously," he said.
Good Good posted its own apology over the weekend, saying the video did not reflect its values and that the company had taken it down. Callaway followed with a statement saying it was disappointed by the content and appreciated Good Good for addressing the incident.
How are Callaway and Good Good connected?
Brewer's Callaway was among the first major equipment makers to sign content-creator partnerships, striking deals with Good Good and Bob Does Sports in January 2023. The PGA Tour and Good Good also announced this year that the Good Good Championship will debut in November at Omni Barton Creek Resort's Fazio Canyons Course in Austin, Texas, during the FedExCup Fall.
